The Harvest is Plentiful…

“Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest.” Matthew‬ ‭9‬:‭37‬-‭38‬ ‭ESV‬‬

What are some truths we can pull from this statement Jesus made?

Truth: God desires for people to know him and walk with him.

Another thought that came to mind, why instruct his disciples to pray earnestly for laborers to be sent into the harvest? Why not just do it? And why must this prayer be earnest (serious, serious minded) NASB uses “plead with the Lord of the harvest”. There’s so much I don’t know about prayer but this verse magnifies the importance of prayer and his desire to work through his disciples.

We can begin following Jesus right now by spending a few minutes and praying earnestly, seriously minded, pleading with the Lord to send out laborers in his harvest, and as you are praying, if it’s on your heart pray, “send me”.
