Something greater than the temple is here…

“I tell you, something greater than the temple is here. And if you had known what this means, ‘I desire mercy, and not sacrifice,’ you would not have condemned the guiltless. For the Son of Man is Lord of the Sabbath.””
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭12‬:‭6‬-‭8‬ ‭ESV‬‬

This is Jesus’ answer to some religious Pharisees pointing the finger at his disciples who were plucking grain to eat, on the sabbath. As I read Jesus’ response I considered what actually happened. Imagine the high priest walking into temple and finding behind the veil commoners talking with God face to face. God’s right there enjoying there company. Wouldn’t it be weird for the priest at that point to point out the commoners fault? If they only truly knew who Jesus was they wouldn’t have said a word. They were so hard pressed about their laws that they completely neglected relationship. Let’s simply talk with God today.
