Parable of the Mustard Seed…

“He put another parable before them, saying, “The kingdom of heaven is like a grain of mustard seed that a man took and sowed in his field. It is the smallest of all seeds, but when it has grown it is larger than all the garden plants and becomes a tree, so that the birds of the air come and make nests in its branches.”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭13‬:‭31‬-‭32‬ ‭ESV‬‬

Thoughts:

The Kingdom has continued to grow from the time of Jesus to now. By God’s grace, more people are coming to Christ. If God wasn’t a reality, this just wouldn’t happen. And that goes for all religions when you think about it. If God wasn’t a reality, and their were no spiritual opposing forces, I doubt there would even be a such thing as religion. It’s built in all of us, this Spiritual need. Some of us snuff it out to live for ourselves, others seek other spiritual “gods” to try and satisfy that pull. And lastly, some are led to forsake their own desires, and/or opinions, to know the truth of who God really is.

And that will to seek and know God in truth is a gift of faith. That gift of faith is something God is willing to give, in fact he already gave that gift through Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross. That gift of faith to draw near to him has been made possible to receive, for all who are willing to take notice of what God has already done.

Yet, unfortunately, sin can cloud one’s view to take notice of the cross of Christ, even when the gospel message is poured out right before them. Jesus often healed the blind, and thankfully he continues doing so.

My prayer; may those stuck in their sin, especially the sin of ignoring the cross, call out to Jesus for healing. May the sin of pride no longer hinder them. May we all see with more clarity the truth of God and his love & mercy through Christ Jesus.

Amen
