Confessing Jesus before men…

I find it interesting this verse comes up next after some recent events in my life. Confessing Jesus before men doesn’t always look like what you see in the picture, but it can be. Either way, God is good and Jesus is more than worthy.

32 So everyone who acknowledges me before men, I also will acknowledge before my Father who is in heaven, 33 but whoever denies me before men, I also will deny before my Father who is in heaven. Matthew 10:32-33 ESV

32 Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven. 33 But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven. Matthew 10:32-33 KJV

ὁμολογήσει / homologēsei = will confess

I believe KJV has a better translation for this verse. Biblehub provides an easy way to see the words translated word by word. You can also click the number designation for each word, for a definition.

Truth: If you’ve confessed Jesus before people, Jesus will confess you before the Father. Think about that, If you’ve confessed Jesus, Jesus has or will speak your name to the Father. He talks about you. But if you deny him, yes, he will deny you.

I was recently reminded of the stage Jesus took on for you and me. Clothed in purple, bleeding everywhere, with a crown of thorns on his head. Everyone screamed, “crucify him”. He was then pulled from that stage and taken to a hill not far away. Another stage if you will, with a splintery ole cross where they would nail him to it and lift him up to be on display, tortured and at the same time accused and taunted by people. And he was willing to take on that stage for you and for me.

  1. So important to confess Jesus . Can not do it on my own, without daily bible reading and prayer. Always remember how Peter denied him 3 times , and how close Peter was to Jesus.

  2. absolutely. and I agree. your comment reminds me of what Jesus said in John 15:5

I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing.
