Jesus says Follow Me.

What does following Jesus look like in your life?

I read this verse today.

“And he said to them, “Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.””
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭4‬:‭19‬ ‭ESV‬‬

I considered how Peter didn’t make himself an evangelist… Jesus said, “I will make you”

Review and Application

I know, in short, following Jesus is to follow his commands, follow his example, walk in step with the Spirit. But what does following Him look like in your life? What is he calling you to? What has he already called you to, through his word? I understand that based on special gifts and callings each person’s walk will look a little different. However, in what ways did he teach and lead his disciples to follow him? Is anything he taught his disciples to do back then null and void today? Do you pick and choose according to what suits you, or do you take everything that Jesus taught them and apply it in your own heart and mind, in its entirety? I choose to believe it all, everything from God’s love for me, to loving your neighbor, to praying for instant healing in his name, to his glory! I know that word “instant“ may concern some, but that’s what I often see happen in the word. And let’s not forget we’ve been called to bare our own cross in our following. (Luke 14:27)

We must always hold that apart from him, we can do nothing (John 15:5). But with him, all things are possible to him who believes. (Mark 9:23)
