Living with Closed Eyes

“For this people’s heart has grown dull, and with their ears they can barely hear, and their eyes they have closed, lest they should see with their eyes and hear with their ears and understand with their heart and turn, and I would heal them.’”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭13‬:‭15‬ ‭ESV‬‬

Question, when you read the verse, who closed their eyes?

The world as we know it is blind, for they have closed their eyes to the truth. They don’t want to see the truth for fear it may lead them to change. But what if that change is good and not bad? What if that change leads you to freedom? Some live without true freedom and don’t even know it, although they feel that something’s a miss. But they can’t pinpoint what that something is. One may say, “I am free”. Yet the truth is one may say they’re free while they’re not even free to open their eyes, for fear of where that may lead. Fear can create a prison for the mind.

A sad reality is how sometimes we in the church close our eyes to the truth as well. I know I have. In fact, I still don’t see perfectly clear. We need to always be willing to see what we initially don’t want to see, and we always need to position ourselves with a willingness to repent. The word says that he has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love and self control. (2 Timothy 1:7)

Let’s walk in truth, always.
