The Way to True Peace.

Yesterday I woke up early, sat on the edge of my bed and gave God a quick thanks. Something I should do every day but I don’t. Then I walked into the living room and found we left the tv on last night. It was a YouTube video that was rotating verses with music and landscapes as the background image. The music was on and I grabbed a computer chair, rolled it to the tv because I was going to sit and watch the scriptures rotate through, and listen to the music. I was going to make that my quiet time, the house was quiet. As I sat down the music paused, the video paused at that moment. At the bottom corner of the screen it said something like “still watching”, a button I could click to continue the video. But I didn’t see the remote anywhere. I then considered, maybe it stopped at a good spot, so I just meditated on that verse in front of me. And it read this…

”fully convinced that God was able to do what he had promised.“

‭‭Romans‬ ‭4‬:‭21‬ ‭ESV‬‬

After I sat for a while and considered the truths of this verse I eventually went and studied chapter 4 and then read further into Romans.

I came to Romans 5 and considered this verse:

”Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.“

‭‭Romans‬ ‭5‬:‭1‬ ‭ESV‬‬

It’s a promise that I know is true, but I don’t always fully embrace it. “We have peace with God”…

I eventually got to this verse:

”For to set the mind on the flesh is death, but to set the mind on the Spirit is life and peace.“

‭‭Romans‬ ‭8‬:‭6‬ ‭ESV‬‬

After reading this the Holy Spirit brought this verse to memory.

”You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you.“ Isaiah‬ ‭26‬:‭3‬ ‭ESV‬‬

And this is what I went into the day with. God is answering prayers. And I’ll continue praying, God, help me keep fixed my eyes on you and your truth and your love.

As a believer I would be right to believe and be fully convinced that God is able to do and will do as he promised. One thing he has promised through Christ Jesus is that I have peace with Him. And though his promises are rock solid, I have a choice as to what I set my mind on. And as I set my mind on the Spirit, I will enjoy and embrace life and peace. And I will be blessed to walk in perfect peace as my mind is stayed on him because I trust him.

Two questions I should consider every morning are these – What will I set my mind on, and who do I place my trust in.

By God’s grace I will begin today knowing and being fully convinced of God’s love for me and his promises are good, for he is good and his love is an everlasting love. He is faithful, even when I’m not, because he cannot deny who he is. The Lord is my strength and my song. He leads me. He cares. In the short time I have left, he is either coming back or he is bringing me to him, to a place where I will live with him for all eternity. I have peace with God through his Son, Jesus Christ. He is the only source for perfect peace. Jesus is the way, the truth and the life, and no one comes to the Father but through him. God provided a way to him, and Jesus is the way. To God be the glory!

”Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good, for his steadfast love endures forever.“ Psalm‬ ‭136‬:‭1‬ ‭ESV‬‬
