What is the motive behind your fasting?

16 “And when you fast, do not look gloomy like the hypocrites, for they disfigure their faces that their fasting may be seen by others. Truly, I say to you, they have received their reward. 17 But when you fast, anoint your head and wash your face, 18 that your fasting may not be seen by others but by your Father who is in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you. Matthew 6:16–18

Do you believe there “WILL” be some type of award given to you directly by the Father if you fast in secret with the right motive? We know we can’t fit God in a box, nor should that be a desire. But when Jesus says, “will”, as in “will reward you”, do you trust him at his word?

True or False?
Based on what Jesus said, If you went through a season of fasting, just between you and God, God will reward you in some way.?.

We also find a lot of “will” statements connected to faith within the scriptures. I honestly believe that true undefiled faith is more rare than we think. Many of our prayers our lined with self motive and flesh, often focused on the here and now, instead of things eternal. One personal thought that hit me some time ago was this; When God answers a prayer, even when the answer is “no”, he sees all the moving parts and his answer will always be the most loving answer he can give…because he cannot deny who he is.
